Tetun Translator
The Tetun translation engine behind everything we ship
Tetun Translator at translate.tetumdili.com is OniT's own Tetun machine-translation engine, exposed as a free public tool. Unlike a generic LLM, every translation is grounded in a 14,000-headword English–Tetun dictionary (tetun.org), DIT justice / health / tourism glossaries, a 71,000-sentence parallel corpus, and the INL Matadalan Ortográfiku — the official Timor-Leste government orthography (Decree 1/2004). Output is cross-checked against 41 lint rules for spelling and grammar, and offered in both DIT (academic) and INL (government) orthographies. Register (formal / neutral / casual) and domain (legal / health / tourism / government) controls tune the output, and every Tetun result has native Timorese audio. It's free, account-free, and installable as a PWA — and it's the same engine that translates 100+ daily news sources inside Timor Media Monitor.
