Mysaffy Atauro Island
An independent Timorese adventure crew a hundred metres from the Atauro ferry pier — diving, whale and dolphin tours, ridge hikes, a backpackers hostel and private rooms. They had a phone number and a Facebook page. Now they have their own domain, a booking flow in five languages, and a marketplace listing that drops enquiries into the same inbox.

The context
Atauro Island sits 25 km north of Dili, across the Wetar Strait. Its reefs hold the highest documented fish biodiversity of any reef on Earth, and the strait in front of them is a migration corridor for whales and dolphins. It is a genuinely world-class destination reached by a $4 ferry that does not sail on Mondays.
Mysaffy is one of the island's independent operators — Timorese-run, based in Beloi, doing everything from guided dives across more than twenty sites to Mount Manucoco ridge hikes and cultural village walks, with a backpackers hostel and three private rooms attached. The business was real and the reviews were good. The problem was that a traveller in Melbourne planning an Atauro trip had no way to find it, read a price, or ask a question that reached anyone.
What we shipped
1 · Their own domain, not a profile on someone else's
mysaffyatauroisland.com runs on the same multi-tenant Next.js platform behind our other hospitality sites — one codebase, one server, a new site added as content rather than as a new project. That is what makes an own-domain site affordable for an operator this size. It is theirs: their name in the address bar, their enquiries, no commission on anything that comes through it.
2 · A booking flow in five languages
The enquiry form runs in English, Tetun, Portuguese, Indonesian and Chinese. Atauro's visitors are Australian divers, Portuguese-speaking residents, Indonesian neighbours and a growing number of Chinese travellers, and the difference between an enquiry and a bounce is often just whether the form spoke the right language.
3 · Real prices, published
Every activity and room now carries a number instead of “on enquiry” — $18 a head in the hostel, private rooms from $35, named prices for snorkel trips, massage, bike and motorbike hire. Travellers filter on price before they filter on anything else; a page that will not say what something costs loses to one that will.
4 · One inbox for the site and the marketplace
Mysaffy is also listed on Rezerva, the Timor-Leste booking marketplace we built, and on the Ministry of Tourism's national portal at timorleste.tl. Enquiries from the brand site and from the marketplace land in the same operator inbox, so there is one place to answer from rather than three. For a crew that spends its day on a boat, that is the difference between a reply and a missed booking.
5 · Written for the searches travellers actually type
Dedicated pages for Mount Manucoco and for whale season, because “Mount Manucoco hike” and “Atauro whale season” are what people search — not the operator's name, which nobody knows yet. AI crawlers (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Google's) are explicitly welcomed in robots.txt, because a growing share of trip planning now starts in a chat window rather than a search box.
Where it stands
The site went live in mid-2026 and the homepage is indexed. The honest position today is that a three-month-old domain for a business nobody has heard of does not rank on its own — it needs links, listings and time. The national tourism portal, the marketplace listing and this page are all part of that work. The next milestone is the inner pages earning their own place in search for the island terms, not the brand name.
